Ingredients
  

Brownie Base

  • 1 box box brownie mix (recommended: Ghirardelli) For extra rich flavor
  • 2 large eggs At room temperature for best results
  • 1/4 cup water Or as per brownie mix instructions
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil Or melted butter for richer taste

Cookie Dough Layer

  • 1 package cookie dough (recommended: Pillsbury) Bakes wonderfully

Toppings

  • 1 cup chocolate chips Semi-sweet chocolate chips for optimal sweetness
  • 1 cup optional nuts Walnuts or pecans can be used
  • 1 cup optional additional chocolate For topping, consider chunks or drizzles

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) according to the brownie mix instructions.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the brownie mix, eggs, water, and oil as per package directions. Stir until just combined.
  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Pour half of the brownie batter into the baking dish and spread evenly.
  • Flatten the package of cookie dough into an even layer atop the brownie batter.
  • Pour the remaining brownie batter on top of the cookie dough, spreading gently to cover.
  • Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top, adding optional nuts or chocolate if desired.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, until edges pull away slightly from the pan.
  • Let brownies cool in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, refrigerate for up to a week or freeze for up to 3 months. You can prepare and layer the brownie and cookie mixes a day in advance.
