  • 1 cup milk Room temperature milk will blend better; can be normal or plant-based.
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil For moisture; can substitute with melted butter.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Pure extract works best.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Use high-quality chocolate for gooey bites.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a square baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  • Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet mixture. Stir gently until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle the top with chocolate chips.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 20 minutes before slicing them into squares.

Notes

For best texture, use room temperature ingredients. Store in an airtight container for up to five days or refrigerate for longer freshness. You can prepare the batter ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
