For the Glaze

  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup Pure maple syrup is preferred over imitation.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Freshly ground cinnamon enhances the flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Use pure vanilla for better taste.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat mat.
  • In a bowl, whisk together maple syrup, cinnamon, and vanilla for the glaze.
  • Slice the pears in half, core them, and cut into generous wedges.

Assembly

  • Arrange the pear slices aesthetically on the puff pastry, leaving a 1/4 inch edge.
  • Brush the pear slices and edges of the pastry with the glaze.

Baking

  • Bake the tart for 40-50 minutes, rotating the baking sheet halfway through.
  • Brush with extra glaze before serving for shine.
  • Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
