  • 1 cup ketchup Look for a high-quality brand with no added sugars or preservatives.
  • 2 tablespoons horseradish Use freshly prepared horseradish for a better kick and flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Freshly squeezed is always best.
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce Any good quality brand will do.
  • to taste salt and pepper I recommend sea salt for freshness.

Preparation

  • In a medium-sized bowl, add the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Using a whisk or fork, mix until smooth, about 30 seconds.
  • Taste the sauce before adding salt and pepper to adjust the flavor.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste, starting with a pinch of each.
  • Serve immediately with shrimp cocktail, crab cakes, or as a zesty dip for veggies.
  • Optional: Chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes before serving for better flavor melding.

Notes

Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. You can make it up to three days in advance for better flavor. Adjust thickness and heat by modifying horseradish and lemon juice.
