Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup canned fruit with syrup (peach, pineapple, or fruit cocktail work well)
  • Whipped cream or ice cream for topping Optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8-inch baking dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine self-rising flour, sugar, and canned fruit (with syrup). Mix until just combined; the batter will be slightly lumpy.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream.

Notes

  • If you don’t have self-rising flour, substitute with all-purpose flour and add 1½ teaspoons of baking powder and ¼ teaspoon of salt.
  • Experiment with different canned fruits for a unique flavor twist.
