  • 1/2 cup cornstarch Creates the perfect crunchy coating. Look for high-quality brands.
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour Adds an extra layer of crunch.
  • 2 pcs eggs, beaten Helps the chicken pieces adhere to the coating.

For the Sauce

  • 1/2 cup sesame oil Ensure it’s pure and not overly processed.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Use low-sodium if preferred.
  • 1/4 cup honey Balances the salty notes beautifully.
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar Adds a tangy note that elevates the dish.
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes For added heat; adjust to your preference.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Enhances the flavor.

For Serving

  • Cooked rice or noodles Choose whichever you prefer; both complement the chicken wonderfully.
  • Fresh vegetables (like bell peppers or broccoli) Add color and nutrients.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In one bowl, combine cornstarch, all-purpose flour, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, beat the eggs until smooth.

Coating the Chicken

  • Dip each piece of chicken first into the beaten eggs, letting any excess drip off, then coat it in the cornstarch mixture, pressing to adhere.

Frying

  • In a large skillet or frying pan, heat sesame oil over medium heat until it shimmers slightly.
  • Add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and let drain on paper towels.

Making the Sauce

  • In a separate saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes over low heat and stir until warmed through.

Tossing the Chicken

  • Once the chicken is perfectly cooked, toss it in the sauce until completely coated and sticky.

Serving

  • Plate the chicken over cooked rice or noodles, garnished with fresh vegetables. Serve hot.

Notes
