Churro Dough

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Look for a high-quality brand; King Arthur is recommended.
  • 1/2 cup water Use room temperature.
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil Can substitute with canola or melted coconut oil.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar Granulated sugar.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Coating

  • 1/4 cup sugar Feel free to adjust according to your sweetness preference.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Use for coating.

Miscellaneous

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Use Ceylon cinnamon for a sweeter flavor.
  • Cooking spray Preferably olive oil spray.

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the water, vegetable oil, sugar, and salt. Bring this mixture to a rolling boil.
  • Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the flour. Mix until a cohesive dough forms and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Take small portions of dough and roll them into bite-sized pieces (about 1-inch in size).
  • Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) while you prepare the churro bites.
  • Generously spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the churro bites in a single layer.

Cooking

  • Cook the churro bites for about 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
  • While cooking, mix the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl for the coating.
  • Roll the churro bites in the cinnamon-sugar mixture while they are still hot.

  • Serve warm and enjoy the crispy, sweet treats.

Notes

Store churro bites in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days or longer in the fridge. You can also freeze the dough for later use.
