  • 0.25 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 12 pieces Churros Homemade or store-bought

Cinnamon Sugar

Instructions

Preparing the Cake

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan, lining the bottom with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, ensuring each incorporates fully before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the whole milk.
  • Pour the batter into your prepared pan and smooth the surface. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then poke holes all over the surface using a fork or chopstick.

Making the Tres Leches Mixture

  • In a large bowl or pitcher, whisk together the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream.
  • Slowly pour the tres leches mixture evenly over the cooled cake, covering with plastic wrap and refrigerating for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Assemble the Cake

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  • Once the tres leches cake has chilled, frost the top with whipped cream and arrange the churros decoratively before dusting with extra cinnamon.
  • Slice and serve chilled.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can prepare the cake a day in advance and soak it overnight.
