Instructions

Preparation

  • Activate Your Yeast: In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it rest for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Mix the Dough: Add half of the oil, flour, and salt into the yeast mixture. Stir gently to form a soft, sticky dough.
  • First Rise: Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat Your Oven: As the dough rises, preheat the oven to 450F (232C) and line a pizza pan with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the Pizza Crust: Once risen, pour the remaining oil onto the pan. Press the dough out to the edges. Bake for about 10 minutes until just golden.

Topping and Baking

  • Add Toppings: In a small bowl, combine melted butter and sugar for the topping. Brush it over the crust, then spread the cherry filling evenly.
  • Make the Crumble: In a separate bowl, combine flour, sugars, and salt. Add melted butter and mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over the cherry filling.
  • Bake Again: Return to the oven and bake for another 13-15 minutes until the crumble is golden.

Finishing Touch

  • Prepare the Glaze: Whisk confectioners' sugar, whole milk, and almond extract until smooth.
  • Finishing Touch: Drizzle the glaze over the warm cherry pizza and allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
