Preparation

  • Preheat your broiler or toaster oven to high. This step is crucial for that perfect char on your grapefruits!
  • Slice the grapefruits in half, removing any seeds. Use a sharp knife to carefully cut the segments away from the membrane.
  • Place the grapefruit halves cut side up on a baking sheet, ensuring they are stable.
  • Top each half with 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and ½ teaspoon of ground ginger.

Cooking

  • Broil for 4 to 7 minutes, checking frequently. Look for the sugar to turn golden brown.
  • After 2 minutes, if desired, sprinkle shredded coconut on top.
  • Once done, remove the grapefruit from the oven, sprinkle with a touch of salt, and let cool before serving.

Notes
