Ingredients
  

For the Apple Filling

  • 6 cups apples, peeled and sliced Granny Smith recommended for tartness.
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice Freshly squeezed.
  • 1 tsp cinnamon Enhances flavor.
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg Adds warmth.

For the Crumble Topping

  • 1 cup oats Rolled oats preferred.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Light or dark, both work.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened At room temperature for easy mixing.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread them evenly in a greased baking dish.
  • In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Melt the softened butter and pour it over the dry ingredients, mixing until crumbly.

Baking

  • Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the apples.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping turns golden brown.
  • Allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
