For the Margarita

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider Use high-quality or homemade.
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar Or brown sugar for a deeper flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Ceylon cinnamon is a great choice.
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 ounces tequila Silver tequila works best.
  • 8 ounces apple cider Freshly pressed is ideal.
  • 2 ounces fresh lime juice About one lime.
  • to taste cups crushed ice
  • as needed apples, thinly sliced (for garnish)
  • as needed cinnamon sticks (for garnish)

Preparation

  • Prepare Your Rim: Set out two small plates. On the first plate, pour the apple cider. On the second, mix together the sugar, cinnamon, and salt until evenly combined. Wet the rim of a lowball glass with the apple cider and roll it into the cinnamon mixture, turning to coat well. Repeat with the other glass and set aside.
  • Mixing Time: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add tequila, apple cider, and lime juice. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.
  • Assemble Your Drinks: Fill the rimmed glasses with crushed ice. Strain the chilled apple cider mixture evenly into each glass.
  • Garnish and Serve: Garnish each drink with thinly sliced apples and a cinnamon stick. Enjoy!

Notes

For the best flavor, use freshly pressed apple cider. Adjust sweetness with sugar or agave syrup. Use fresh lime juice for the best zesty punch.
