Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Amaretto liqueur Look for a high-quality brand like Disaronno for an authentic almond flavor.
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice Fresh is best! Bottled lemon juice just doesn’t cut it for this recipe.
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup You can easily make your own by mixing equal parts sugar and water until dissolved.
  • 1/2 ounce egg white This adds a silky texture and frothy top, but feel free to leave it out if you prefer.
  • Crushed ice cubes Crushed ice makes for a chill cocktail and upgrades the mouthfeel.
  • Maraschino cherry Optional, for garnish.
  • Orange twist or lemon twist Optional, for garnish adding a hint of zest and visual appeal.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with 2 ounces of Amaretto liqueur, 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 1/2 ounce of simple syrup. If you choose, add 1/2 ounce egg white for a frothy finish.
  • Shake the mixture vigorously for about 15 seconds.
  • Add in crushed ice and shake for another 15 seconds.
  • Strain the mixture into a low-ball glass that’s been filled halfway with crushed ice.
  • Garnish with a maraschino cherry and a twist of either orange or lemon peel.

Notes

Chill your glass for an extra refreshing experience. If you have leftover mix, keep it in the refrigerator for up to a day. Use fresh eggs for egg whites.
