Ingredients
  

For the Apple Filling

  • 3 medium apples, peeled and diced Granny Smith recommended for tartness.
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice Freshly squeezed is best for flavor.
  • 2 tsp granulated sugar Adjust according to your sweetness preference.
  • 1 tsp cinnamon Adds a warm, comforting spice.
  • 1/4 tsp salt Just a pinch to balance the sweetness.

For the Crisp Topping

  • 3 tbsp rolled oats Look for gluten-free if needed.
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour Or gluten-free flour for substitutions.
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar For that rich, molasses flavor.
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted Use room temperature for easier mixing.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Butter or grease two 5" oven-safe baking dishes.
  • In a medium bowl, combine diced apples, lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Toss until well-coated.
  • Divide the apple mixture between the prepared baking dishes, spreading it evenly.

Cooking

  • Cover each dish with aluminum foil and air fry at 400°F for 10 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and melted butter. Stir until crumbly.
  • After the initial air-frying, remove the foil and check the apples; they should be fork-tender.
  • Spread the oat mixture over the apples and air fry again at 350°F for 5 minutes, or until the topping is golden and crispy.

Serving

  • Allow the crisp to cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
  • Serve topped with vanilla ice cream or caramel drizzle.

Notes

For best results, cover and store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge. Always use fresh, seasonal apples for optimal flavor.
